Best Time to Visit Dharamshala


If you want break from the busy and fast city life then Dharamshala can be your best destination. Dharamshala is a beautiful city is nestle on the high slopes of the Kangra Valley. It is well known for its thick pine trees and Deodar forests, chilly environment, numerous streams, and the attractive snow capped Dhauladhar range of Himalayas are a must watch. Also the magnificent views of snowy peaks, tea gardens make the surroundings very attractive.

Dharamshala Weather


Dharmasala has a cool climate all through the year.

Summers:  (March to June) Temperatures between 22 °C to 38 °C. Best time for trekking, so trekking tourists prefer this season.

Monsoons:  (July to September) heavy rainfall and messy. Tourists typically avoid heavy rainfall days in July and August.

Winters:  (December to February) chilly and freezing during Januray with minium mercury level is goes below 4 °C. Snowfalls in winters (especially January) are notorious here with blocking many roads with poor visibility.


Best time to Visit Dharamshala

Best Season to visit Dharmasala is from September to June. Tourists may keep off January.

  • December to February is best time to see snow capped hilly areas.
  • March to June is best time for all kinds of tourist activities including trekking
  • September to Novemebr is good time for sightseeing, temple visits, outings and trekking.
  • July to August is ideal time for indoor activities like spending time in Shrines.
